Place des courts is a non-profit 1901 law association, our desire to promote and publicize short films by inviting them to rural areas, share our passion by organizing outdoor festivals, and discover the talent of directors and comedians. in places of conviviality.
The Festival de Cine Comprometido de Guadalajara (FESCIGU) celebrates its 22nd edition this year, and it does so with a change of venue, since the Guadalajara City Council has decided to censor it and cancel the agreement. Therefore, starting this year the festival will take place in Azuqueca de Henares. Throughout these years, we have tried to bring our audience the best of the world of short films, with social, protest or simply humanist content. All genres fit, as long as violence is not advocated. The FESCIGU is a preselection festival for the Goya Awards.
The Kaaffilm Short Film Festival is an independent film festival that puts the spotlight on short films – a category that unfortunately doesn’t get the mainstream attention it deserves. We accept submissions from all over the world and provide a platform for short films that challenge the way we think about cinema.

The purpose of this initiative is not only pointing out to the audience recent and important features, but also underlining the value of a musical score as an essential element for the poetry and the success of a movie itself.
Besides, the contest will be a chance for film makers and producers to show their own works to a various audience and to a high-qualified international jury.
In addition of the section about feature films, it has been included also a section concerning short films, that will participate in the contest for a dedicated award.
The attendance is open to feature films and videos of any nationality, subject and length (musical productions but also dramatic films, comics, historical or Tv productions, etc).

Award Ceremony will take place at Casa della Musica in Parma on September 21th 2024 at 5.00pm with Dinner Gala, at which all producers or directors who have their film in nomination will be invited.

Critical Moves Screenings is an international competition program in the frame of the Moving Body Festival with a focus on short screen dance films.
We witness more and more evidence of climate challenges, inequality issues around the globe, and a huge polarization between individuals and nations. These diverse illnesses are interconnected and together they are creating unpredictable dynamics.
It looks like there isn’t an easy exit, neither a safe return nor a new normality. We need to learn how to navigate our lives through uncertainty and remind ourselves that challenging times are also occasions of real possibilities and major opportunities.
With our Open Call, we would like to hear your strong critical voice!
The temporary collective body that we form every year has an increasingly powerful charge of energy. It seeks, provokes, quests around, and wants to see, speak and hear. It maps the routes along which artists and audiences move through art with strong conceptual and choreographic sensibility. The edition unfolds in a rich program that hides entrances and exits to a variety of contexts and topics which meets us with works in process, research residencies, artistic practices, performances, lectures and talks, screenings, and party situations.
We perceive the critical areas that we will offer to your attention as a rich full territory in which to explore, to stand and observe, to provoke, to stand up and insist that it is important - How do we move? What makes us move? Towards what are we moving? How do we move from an individual towards a collective body shaping the future of history? How do we move in times of Catastrophe?

Focus
We are searching for short films which represent experiments in video art mediums, and dance with strong choreographic sensibility and original concepts. Films that explore new audiovisual lines and challenge the viewer’s perspective are very welcome to submit. The category is open to a wide range of genres, with a priority on experimental, but also narrative, social, and documentary.
We are curious to receive:
- films that are tapping into Moving Body’s platform core questions;
- films with sharp and clear concepts;
- innovative and provocative video art works that push the boundaries of the film medium;
films related to dance, choreography, or movement;
- films between 1 - 15 min.;
- films not older than 2 years;
- films not submitted to previous Moving Body editions;
- max. 2 submissions per filmmaker
We are not interested to receive:
- trailers;
- recordings of performances;
- commercials.
A film will be considered by the festival's selection committee once the online form has been filled out and the selection screener link has been sent, before the 23rd of May 2023.
The shared memory center for democracy and peace (CMCDP) is a national human rights association with international extensions whose fields of action are:
- Issues related to memory and shared memory as knowledge and expertise;
- Promoting a culture of peace, coexistence and democracy;
- The fight against all forms of extremism;
- Defending human rights and contributing to the dissemination of their culture;
- Questions of identity and linguistic and cultural diversity.
- The consolidation and development of the values of solidarity and constructive dialogue between peoples and nations;
- Support for all generations of human rights.
It organizes an annual film festival in Nador, called the Festival International de Cinéma et Mémoire Commune (FICMEC), dedicated to the theme of memory.
In 2025, the theme of the 14th edition of the festival will be “The Memory of Peace”.
While some define peace as non-war, others go so far as to oppose it to all forms of violence. Although the preachers and emissaries of peace are constantly calling for :
- reconciliation between belligerents and warmongers to put an end to hostilities or ward off aggression and tip the balance in favor of collective intelligence;
- overcoming the stigma of the past through far-sighted dialogue and harmonious international relations;
- the promotion of a universal culture of pacifism through, among other things, the inclusion of the values of tolerance and fraternity in educational curricula;
- unanimous ratification of UN resolutions;
the resurgence of political, economic, religious and doctrinaire disputes has overtaken the voice of reason, compromising good-faith initiatives and plunging the international community into moral disarray.
The loss of life and devastation caused by any armed confrontation can be counted or at least estimated in post-war periods. Quantifiable, they provide information on the seriousness of the human and material damage caused or suffered. But who can accurately determine the impact of psychological trauma, accurately diagnose the wounds of the soul, and meticulously assess the after-effects of violence?
Memory wounds are difficult to suture in the short or medium term. To purge resentment, bend vindictiveness and soothe tormented consciences, taking the long and steep road to reconciliation seems the ideal solution for turning the bloody pages of the past. Memories, stories of resilience, forgiveness and solidarity, as well as shared painful experiences, are the best way to get rid of animosity and make way for amnesty.
The “Memory of Peace”, a concept that focuses on the elements of the past that call for appeasement and the building of a common future, has as its main foundations reconciliation and mutual understanding, learning from the mistakes of the past, anchoring the culture of non-violence in people's minds, and above all transmitting this memory to future generations through education, testimony and the arts, particularly cinema, which is a powerful vector of emotion and empathy.
In the light of the above, films will be selected that deal with one of the following themes:
- Reconciliation after war or genocide.
- Mutual understanding to overcome hatred and suffering and rebuild human and social bonds.
- Forgiveness and resilience
- Peace movements
- Emblematic figures of peace
- Learning from past mistakes
- spreading the values of justice and tolerance
- Anchoring the culture of non-violence in individual and collective memories
- Community initiatives that model peace and social cohesion
- Peace education through pedagogical approaches
As this list is not exhaustive, the festival management welcomes films dealing with other peace-related issues.
The SITGES - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia is a specialized, competitive fantastic genre Festival in accordance with the regulations established by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations). The Festival has also been declared a “Qualified Festival” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® in the United States. This means that those shorts winning the awards for “Best Short Film” in the Official Fantàstic Selection and “Best Short Film” in the Anima’t category will automatically be taken into consideration by the Hollywood Academy Awards® selection committee.

In this Festival are invited to take part to public and private entities that share the same concerns.
The Festival consists of several sections, including a contest of short and documentaries, social issues include: xenophobia, generational conflict, child labor, domestic violence, social roles, ecology, children's rights, coexistence, etc.
Since 2013, the International Film Festival for Human Rights Colombia offers attendees an audiovisual, cultural and academic program that contributes to the formation of audiences, the strengthening of film and cultural industries, the creation of spaces for dialogue around life, reconciliation, the promotion and defense of human rights, and the construction of ideas for peace.
The Festival is the ideal setting for the film community of Colombia and the world that bets on audiovisual narration with a focus on human rights, which is why it becomes the main platform for the promotion, circulation, distribution and exhibition of audiovisual works whose demand is limited due to their non-commercial subject matter.
The Festival is being held simultaneously in the cities of Barranquilla, Medellin, Cali, Bogota, Soacha, Cartagena, Manizales, Pereira and Villavicencio, and in about 10 municipalities in the country, organized by Fundación Impulsos.
SECINDI Inclusive Film Festival and Diversity
The objective of SECINDI with this Short Film Competition, included in the Inclusive Film and Diversity Festival, is to encourage and reward the best national and international short films to give visibility to films whose theme is linked in some way with functional diversity and inclusion to make them accessible to all people.
Syncro is a national and international short film festival dedicated to elevating and showcasing the short film format. The festival offers a new approach to viewing short films by programming each film in an individual screening. We firmly believe that short films are not a lesser format or merely a learning stage in filmmaking. On the contrary, they represent cinema in its most potent and compact expression.
Aware of the importance of audiovisual media in the current society, La Huerta de Europa association in collaboration with the media outlet agrodifusión create The 1st “La Semilla” AgroFilm Festival.
The SunChild 13th International Environmental Festival will take place from May 16th to 20th, 2025, screening over 40 of the best environmental films from around the world. On a planet that faces complex issues that threaten to tear us apart, we hope to provide a platform to find the connection to sustain life․ SunChild IEF is a celebration of nature, creating space for people to come together, learn, and create solutions.
About the Festival
SunChild International Environmental Festival, established by the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC), is the first and the only environmental festival in the South Caucasus region. More than 780 films from 150 countries worldwide were screened over its last 15 years of existence. The film festival includes various activities such as carnival marches, dozens of workshops, conferences, and exhibitions. Besides being rich in content, all events are eye-catching due to their colorful and unique approaches. The festival travels in the regions of Armenia throughout the whole year, involving a large number of children and youth, facilitating identification and creative solutions to community environmental issues by organizing thematic film screenings, discussions, and other initiatives. By directly targeting communities through encouragement and support to take action locally, it will create a lasting effect within the community. The festival aims to bring nature, wildlife, and the environment into the focus of public attention and increase knowledge about issues among citizens, especially among children and youth.
Theme: Symbiosis between Humans and Nature
Each year SunChild IEF highlights different environmental topics to raise awareness and become a platform for discussion. For the 13th edition of the festival, we chose Symbiosis in a Non-Anthropocentric World as a central theme. All of our events in some way or another aim to unveil the complex nature of symbiosis conservation challenges in Armenia, the South Caucasus Region, and beyond. The symbiotic relationship between humans and nature has a large footnote in human history. By highlighting a potential dying value, we can educate citizens on our micro-destruction/abandonment of habitats that once encouraged a non-anthropocentric civilization. To contrast the abandonment, solutions can be proposed by conserving stories that exemplify our current harmony with nature. With the help of showcasing the destruction, the harmony, and additional conceptual solutions/visions, we can raise awareness of a value that deserves to be recognized and upheld by future generations.

• Feature-length Documentaries about Symbiosis between Humans and Nature within the lens of Abandoning Symbiosis and/or Symbiotic Harmony.
This program is dedicated to promoting public awareness of stories, issues, and challenges about symbiosis on earth. Our responsibility is to protect habitats and relationships between humans and nature that are slowly losing contact. By showcasing films that focus on either the abandonment of symbiosis or the encouragement of symbiosis, it can emphasize the current problems and solutions we face in modern civilization. Films that may be submitted could be solely about symbiotic separation, and symbiotic harmony, or include both thematic elements.
Documentaries released after March 2024 are welcome to be submitted for this competition.
The film may run between 60 minutes and 3 hours. To have a longer film considered, please contact SunChild IEF.

This program is dedicated to promoting public awareness of stories, issues, and challenges about symbiosis worldwide. Showcasing short films that focus on either the abandonment of symbiosis or the encouragement of symbiosis can emphasize the current problems and solutions we face in modern civilization. Films that may be submitted could be solely about symbiotic separation, and symbiotic harmony, or that include both thematic elements.
Short films of any genre released after March 2024 are welcome to be submitted for this competition. The film may be 5-45 minutes in length.
• Youth and Children about Environmental Conservation
Films about environmental issues made by children and youth, released after March 2024.
Age range: 10-25 years. The Film may be around 3-8 minutes long. To have a longer film considered, please contact SunChild IEF.
• John Burton Conservation Award: Films about Conservationists
Films about Conservationists from all around the world.
Named after conservationist John Burton, this award will spotlight films about nature conservation with a strong directorial vision.
With this award, SunChild IEF wants to honor the memory of John Burton, who died in May 2022.
The award will be granted to the best conservation films about individuals, who strive to make a change in the world. John Burton was a revolutionary, visionary, and inspirational conservationist whose creative thinking saved over 300,000 hectares of threatened habitat from damaging development.
He challenged the usual approaches to preserving wild creatures and their habitats.
Sir David Attenborough described him as “a truly wonderful man, more altruistic, more energetic, braver and more original than almost anyone I have known.”
Films released after March 2024 are welcome to be submitted for this competition.
• Non-Competition Films’ Section for the Educational/Informational program.
In this Non-Competition Program, we encourage films to be submitted but not limited to the theme of Symbiosis between Humans and Nature. In this category, we welcome films about environmental issues and challenges from all around the world.
Films of any genre released after March 2024 are welcome to be submitted for this competition.
